From a rich German and European clock making tradition, the Hermle Clock Company is known for quality and craftsmanship. Known more for its beautiful table and mantle clocks, Hermle produces a line of grandfather clocks that reflects almost 100 years of clock making expertise.

The Black Forest region of southwestern Germany has long been known for clock making. In the years following World War I, Franz Hermle established what was considered for the time, a state of the art factory. Modern manufacturing methods are often thought of as being in conflict with quality and individual craftsmanship, though Franz Hermle clearly turned this notion on its head.

The company managed to survive through World War II and went on to establish a manufacturing presence in America. Today the company is said to employ over 500 people. Hermle grandfather clocks are not inexpensive but the investment is well the investment.

In addition to making its own line of floor clocks and other precision clock styles, the company produces clock movements. In keeping with the trend toward high precision quartz movements, Hermle produces automatic clock movements. Like many clock makers from the Black Forest region, Hermle produces cuckoo clocks but its grandfather clocks are regarded as some the worlds finest.
