Bulova Grandfather Clocks

The Bulova Company has been a premier manufacturer of precision timepieces for nearly 100 years. The company is best know for its watches but also produces a quality line of grandfather clocks. The Bulova Company has earned a reputation for quality, accuracy and unparalleled customer loyalty.

After emigrating from his native Czechoslovakia, Joseph Bulova settled in New York City. Like other immigrants, Bulova sought out a trade and around 1875 he opened a small jewelry store. Along the way, Bulova began selling watches and clocks and by 1911 he had opened a factory in Switzerland. The company eventually expanded its production to America.

Taking a page from the growing auto industry, Bulova introduced the first wrist and pocket watches to be assembled from precisely manufactured parts to exacting design specifications. Using the concept of part standardization meant that parts were interchangeable from one timepiece to another. Part standardization introduces higher levels of quality since the production process can be closely monitored and controlled.

Bulova grandfather clocks are manufactured to the same exacting standards that Bulova watch buyers have come to expect. Bulova quite rightly boasts of the accuracy attained by their quartz clock movement. With battery operated chimes the quartz grandfather movement is said to be accurate with three minutes per year. Bulova also offers precision European-made mechanical movements. Cases are made from fine hardwoods with solid brass hardware and leaded glass.

The purchase of a Bulova grandfather clock can help to create legacy that can last for generations.
